Woman to Cycle Tandem From Maidenhead to Tunisia

Yasmin Jenkins, 34, is to set off on a charity cycle inspired by a birthday present from her nan this September 17. Ten years ago Yasmin was gifted a sponsorship of a young man in Uganda via the Mityana Uganda Charity, who she has since grown a fantastic relationship with. “I have a fantastic relationship with this chap and have visited him a couple of times – we are good friends. “I’ve learnt more about the charity and was keen to raise some serious money – so I felt I needed a serious challenge.” Yasmin will also be raising money for Phyllis Tuckwell and The World Land Trust while she cycles the 2,000-mile stretch.

Yasmin will be making her way on a tandem, with family and friends switching in and out throughout the challenge. Along the way, Yasmin has pledged not to buy anything new as a way to reduce her impact on the environment. “At the moment, the whole project feels pretty overwhelming,” Yasmin added. “I’m really keen to raise a significant amount of money for some really important causes, and I think I’ll be really proud of myself when I’m done.” Ahead of the challenge, Yasmin is hosting a charity festival at Berkshire Brewery in Wokingham on September 2 called ‘Get on the back’. Entertainment will be running throughout the day along with Brewery Tours, Beer & Yoga sessions, Cheese and Beer pairing and a silent disco.
